Note: The signage instance linked in this post is no longer running.
I would like to take this opportunity to announce Signage. I recently (Yesterday, actually.) stumbled accross the White House’s signed legislation list. I thought it was neat, but I was quite disappointed to find that it doesn’t seem to have an RSS feed. So I wrote one.
Signage is in two parts:
- A package that provides a very simple API for fetching and scraping the lists of legislation from the whitehouse.gov.
- A program that wraps that package and provides a web server which fetches those lists and reformats them in various ways.
Currently the server can output in RSS, which was the main goal, and JSON. I’ve also got an instance of the server running on this server.
It’s a bit rough around the edges, and there are few more features I would like to add, but maybe someone will find it useful. I will, at least, which is, I suppose, why I wrote it in the first place. If you don’t find it useful as it is currently but think it could be, feel free to submit a pull request.
